Blood Peach Pinup

They look dusky and evil on the tree, now drooping under the weight. several have fallen and are now chicken fodder.
I gather a few to test as they yield to my fingers pressure. Ripe.
In this too-dry year they spit juice like blood and taunt me with just how to preserve this one perfect week of late August in the southwest of France.
Vampire Peaches suck the summer from the ground like blood.

Eating them alive in the orchard is my retort.

Wooowww, those look so fabulously sexy!
We’re in peach territory, too: our town’s major festival is around the lowly Red Haven peach (we’re in Michigan). There’s something about them that’s both sacred and profane, you know? Dry years actually can be good: concentrates those sugars, not at all a bad thing.
have fun finding ways to save them.
they would make beautiful bellinis…
